UOKiK has brought charges against four Google companies over the way they negotiated with Polish publishers. Formally, it is a dispute between the media and a platform, but it affects every company whose traffic and sales depend on a single search engine.
The authority alleges that in talks about payment for article snippets, Google did not disclose to publishers the data required by law. Four companies in the group face a fine of up to 10 percent of turnover.
Carriers serving the chain’s distribution centers did not compete for drivers for nearly seven years, and the arrangement was coordinated by Jeronimo Martins Polska. The decision shows that the client that organizes such a “we don’t poach each other’s people” agreement is also responsible for it.
