The number of AI users is growing fastest among the youngest people, but the share of people aged 65-74 has more than tripled. Twice as many companies are also using artificial intelligence as a year ago.

In 2026, 39.8% of people aged 16-74 had used tools based on artificial intelligence during the three months before the survey. A year earlier, it was 22.7%, which means an increase of 17.1 percentage points. The data comes from the Central Statistical Office report “Information society in Poland in 2026” (opens in a new tab), published on 21 October.

In the 16-24 age group, the share of AI users rose from 49.3% to 72.5%, and among people aged 25-34 from 39.5% to 62.1%. In the older groups, it stands at 47.9% (ages 35-44), 35.9% (45-54) and 20.8% (55-64). Among people aged 65-74, 9% of respondents use AI, compared with 2.6% a year earlier.

Digital skills are also improving. Basic or above-basic skills are held by 61.6% of people aged 16-74, compared with 50.4% in 2025. The largest increase, by 16.8 percentage points, was recorded in the 55-64 age group. Internet access is available in 96.6% of households, and 72.9% of people said they had shopped online in the last 12 months.

AI is currently used by 17.8% of enterprises, compared with 8.7% in 2025. Most often in marketing and sales (11.1% of companies) and in office work and management processes (9.6%). In 2025, artificial intelligence was used by 42% of large, 15.6% of medium-sized and 6.1% of small companies, according to GUS data cited by the Polish Economic Institute.

For companies, this means that customers and employees, including older ones, are increasingly familiar with AI tools from everyday use, which matters when planning customer service, marketing communication and training.
